It's just that they still speak in old diplomatic forms, because they are traditionalists and believe in good manners. But underneath their words I see glimpses of steel and anger. They should be taken seriously. Then again, the Serbs' relationship with Milosevic seems to be entirely shaped by Western propaganda these days. Not just the individuals, but the very system enabling them. But that's just the thing - after the Yellow October of 2000, every election has been manipulated, before or after the fact. People voted for Kostunica, and he chickened out when it got tough. They voted for Dacic, and he betrayed them by joining Tadic. They voted for Nikolic believing he was still a Radical, only to find out he had turned as well. And they are wary of the street because the street gave them the Yellow October. But this cannot go on for much longer.

As for the Serbs' work ethic, I see that differently. All of these supposedly "lazy and worthless" people that the Anglos sneer at have proven time and again they can work, build and prosper - provided someone isn't plundering them. Why not put a party like Dveri into power? At least the Greeks show some backbone, why can't the Serbs? Are the Serbs in love with Western Culture or something?
